Shelley Samel

Shelley Samel is the Chief Legal Officer, Chief Privacy Officer and Corporate Secretary at Ad Standards, having joined the organization in 2022 as Senior Legal Counsel. Prior to that, Shelley practised advertising and marketing law for over twenty years – both in a large firm and then her own boutique firm where she advised some of Canada’s largest and most respected companies and their agencies in all matters relating to advertising and marketing, promotions and data privacy. Shelley is a recognized leader in the field, having received numerous prestigious awards for her expertise.  She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2000 after clerking at the Ontario Court of Appeal.  In her free time, Shelley is the President of the Board of Directors of TanenbaumCHAT.
