Mark Dekker is a nutrition science professional with significant experience in regulatory and nutrition science. Currently, as the Senior Director of Scientific and Regulatory Affairs for the Canadian Beverage Association, Mark is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of regulatory programs across all levels of government.
Mark completed his BSc (Biomedical Sciences) and PhD (Nutrition, Exercise and Metabolism) at the University of Guelph. His research at Guelph, under the supervision of Dr. Lindsay Robinson, focused on the postprandial triglyceride response to dietary fat. After completing postdoctoral studies at the Hospital for Sick Children, under the supervision of Dr. K. Adeli, Mark began work in the food industry in Regulatory Science. He has held several roles leading regulatory, medical and nutrition science work in Canada, including as Manager of Regulatory Affairs with Mead Johnson Nutrition and Senior Manager of Nutrition Science for PepsiCo and Tropicana Brands Group. Mark has been influential in innovation support for several important National brands, including Gatorade, Quaker, Enfamil A+, Nutramigen A+ with LGG and Tropicana. Mark also serves on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Foundation for Dietetic Research.
